Anniversay Giveaway + Passwords Part Deux

I went to the Genius Bar recently.

Because my iMac wouldn't power on at all.

It's why I've been MIA on the blog lately.

One thing I didn't realize they do when they take your computer for servicing is that the Geniuses will want to know your password.

Remember that time when I said my passwords are a little immature?

I didn't think I'd actually have to own up to it in public.

Face to face with someone.

When the Genius asked me for my password, this was my reaction:

"My password?"

"Ha, um, it's um . . . "

"It's poopsicle. Heh."

I then said, "How embarrassing," and the Genius said, "I've seen worse."

I swear my next password will not contain the word poop.

In other news, today's the anniversary of my blog! I can't believe I've been putting my stories on the web for two years now. Time really flies by. To celebrate, I'm giving away a little present, a $50 gift card from American Express. Enter in the Rafflecopter widget below. Good luck!

Blog Anniversary + Lan Ling Wang + Giveaway

I have been doing a lot of this lately:

DramaFever, the enabler to my addiction.

Or, more specifically, I've been binge-watching Lan Ling Wang (aka Prince of Lan Ling) for the past week because both my mom and aunt watched it awhile ago and said it was good.

I'd been hankering for something to sink my teeth into and this Chinese drama was the perfect fit.

The plot was interesting, the actors were good, and the setting was beautiful.

Everything that makes me drama-happy.

But then, I noticed something about myself.

I kept pausing in the middle of the drama to do this:

Does anyone else do this, too?

Every time something interesting happened, I googled it to see if it was true.

I did so many searches as I was watching the show that I read an obscene amount of Chinese history.

Yep, I learn my history from watching dramas.

No shame.

Lan Ling Wang aka Gao Chang Gong was a pretty interesting historical figure.

Supposedly one of the four most handsome men in Chinese history, and sometimes mistaken for a woman, Lan Ling Wang wore masks during battles to hide his beauty. He was a celebrated general beloved by the people which unfortunately, incited the jealousy of his cousin, the king. The latter forced the prince to end his life with poison.

William Feng Shao Feng portrays Lan Ling Wang and I may have developed a teeny tiny (HUGE) fan crush on him. Ariel Lin Yi Chen, whom I already love, plays the female lead and the two of them together makes this drama GOLD. George Hu Yu Wei is Lan Ling Wang's brother and I am QUITE amused by George's character. He's the perfect element to round out this drama.

Would you guys like to watch Lan Ling Wang and fall down this rabbit hole, too?

Yes?

Good, because it's my ONE YEAR BLOG ANNIVERSARY and to celebrate, I'm giving away a 3-month premium subscription to DramaFever.

That means you can watch Lan Ling Wang and other Asian dramas for three whole months, ad-free!

To enter, just leave a comment below. Giveaway ends on April 30, 2015. Please note: DramaFever is not available in every country.

Good luck, everyone!

Have you watched Lan Ling Wang? Any favorite parts? Other favorite dramas?

Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor + Giveaway

Dreams of Gods and Monsters releases today and I am ecstatic!

ECSTATIC.

The wait for the final installment of this trilogy has been an eternity and it's finally over.

Look at the pretty cover.

Isn't it beautiful?

Doesn't it scream Read Me?!

I cannot wait to devour it.

If it's anything like the first two books in the series, it's going to leave me bereft when it's all over.

But, I'm looking forward to sitting down and revisiting:
  • the writing in these books. Laini Taylor's writing is beautifully specific and full of feeling.
  • the world that Karou and Brimstone and Akiva inhabit. It's achingly vivid and feels so real that it's palpable in my mouth.
  • Karou and Zuzana's friendship. They are really the best friends that every girl should have. They treat each other with love, loyalty, and understanding. I wish they were real people!
  • the humor in these books. It's my kind of humor: one part cheese, one part audacity, and one part nerd, with a little sprinkling of smirk thrown in here and there.
  • the epic love story. Gah, the love story! And hate story. And love story. There are many love stories in these books.

I love this trilogy so much that I want other people to fall in love with it too. So, in celebration of DOGAM's release day, I'm giving away one copy of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. It's the first book in the series and maybe it'll incite the trilogy-love in someone else too.
